Description

Pedestrian mall with clock tower memorial, complete with dedicatory plaques and remembrance gardens. A flag pole with sandstone wall and plaque is situated at the other end of the mall. Various plaques and some fine mosaic work feature throughout the complex.

Separate plaques on the clock tower are for some of the post WWII conflicts to which Australia has sent armed forces: Korea 1950-53 : Malaya 1955-63 : Borneo 1963-66 : Malaysia 1964-65 : Vietnam 1962-72.

This Memorial honours those who served in the Armed Forces during World Wars 1914-1918 1939-1945

Erected by the women of the Strong Post & remodelled by public subscription 1951

The foundation stone was laid by Stanley E. Parry, Mayor 28th May 1932 Mayor Ald. H. R. Thorncroft, Town Clerk S. H. Lofts Canterbury City Council
