In memory of our fallen comrades This memorial was unveiled by His Excellency the Governor of NSW Lieutenant General Sir John Northcott KCMG CB MVO Sunday 19th April 1953.

Additional information by Sydney Trains:

the monument lies outside the station entrance and within the heritage listing boundary of the Lakemba Railway Station Group. It is located on a small square lawn area, with plantings along the fence line. It comprises a sandstone block topped with a granite broken column (symbolising sacrifice) with a brass plaque set within an arched niche. The monument is flanked by two flagpoles and forms part of a larger landscaped public garden that stretches from the station to the intersection with Haldon Street.
